Weapon Info
The shareware version has six weapons, and the registered version has ten.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kick
The good news is that you have an infinite amount of kicks. The bad news is
that this weapon is only a mediocre defense against the weakest enemies.
But used in combination with a dose of steroids, the kick has a bit more
punch. Use it only as a last resort.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pistol
It's better than the Kick, but only because you don't have to move
in close to use it. Depending on the difficulty level at which you're
playing, you need three or four bullets to take out Assault Troopers and
Assault Captains, and you need more than triple that for Pig Cops. To make
matters worse, the gun stops firing to (automatically) change clips,
exactly what you don't need when a Pig Cop has a shotgun in your face or
when you're putting the finishing touches on a Dukematch opponent.
Gun contains: 48 rounds
Ammo packs: 12-round clips
Maximum ammo: 200 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shotgun
Similar to the shotgun in Doom, it takes one good shot to kill
Assault Troopers and Captains and just two or three good blasts to destroy
Pig Cops and Octabrains. It can't be used to blow open walls, but you can't
get hurt by firing it point-blank, so it's you're best weapon for firing at
close range.
Gun contains: 10 rounds
Ammo packs: 10 rounds
Maximum ammo: 50 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaingun Cannon
The chaingun proves to be your most effective weapon when you have
large numbers of aliens around you, due to the weapon's rapid fire and
response time. On the other hand, it runs out of ammo very quickly for the
same reason. But there's lots it lying around for you to find.
Gun contains: 50 rounds
Ammo packs: 50 rounds
Maximum ammo: 200 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
RPG
You can cause some serious mayhem with this powerful weapon.
Besides easily taking out every enemy (except Bosses) with one shot, the
chances are good that any enemies within the grenade's blast radius will go
up in flames, too. You can also use it to blow holes in walls to create
shortcuts, but whether you're shooting an enemy or an object remember one
thing: don't stand too close to your target! You're just as vulnerable to
damage as the aliens.
Gun contains: 5 rounds
Ammo packs: 5 rounds
Maximum ammo: 50 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pipe Bombs
Pipe bombs are more deadly than an RPG blast, and are perfect for
when you have time to set a trap. They aren't too useful in a battle when
having a quick reaction time is vital to your survival, or when your enemy
is flying or swimming above you.
Here's how they work: after you toss a pipe bomb, the weapon in your hand
changes to a detonator; you can either press Fire to detonate the bomb or
throw another (and another, and another) and detonate them simultaneously.
You can detonate them from anywhere on a level, including while you're
looking at a security monitor. :-)
Gun contains: 5 rounds
Ammo packs: 5 rounds
Maximum ammo: 50 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shrink Ray (registered version only)
A nasty device, the shrink ray will turn reduce your opponents to
the size of a rodent. During this time, they can be easily stomped to
death. Powerful, but a little risky to use around mirrors (which reflect
the beam), and it can sometimes be hard catching the little buggers you've
shrunk down.
Gun contains: 5 rounds
Ammo packs: 5 rounds
Maximum ammo: 50 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Devastator (registered version only)
This cruel weapon seems to be less effective in multiplayer than it
is in single player mode, but it's still vicious, spraying dozens of
miniature rockets in a diffuse pattern. The blast radius of any of these
rockets is much smaller than that of the RPG, but you can saturate an area
with them.
Gun contains: 10 rounds
Ammo packs: 10 rounds
Maximum ammo: 99 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wall-Mounted Laser Trip Bomb (registered version only)
Quite handy for setting traps! Slap one up on a wall and it arms a
second later, projecting a beam across the area. Breaking the beam
instantly triggers the bomb. Laser trip bombs can also be detonated by
other explosions nearby.
Maximum ammo: 10 rounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freezethrower (registered version only)
Shoot your opponent with this weapon and turn them instantly into
blocks of ice. While frozen, they can be shattered with a kick or shot from
any weapon. In multiplayer mode, you'll notice that slain Dukes drop an
Atomic Health (+50 Health) icon when they shatter, which can be quite nice.
The freezethrower's ray bounces off any surface, however, which can be a
handicap as well since you run the risk of freezing yourself.

Maximum ammo: 99 rounds
